Gråd og uro

The vast majority of infants are very calm the first 14 days after birth. They are tired and exhausted and spend most of their time eating and sleeping.

After about 14 days, the majority begin to wake up more and may not be as easy to calm down again. Many parents describe it by really feeling that they have had an infant in the house.

Causes of restlessness and crying in the little infant

  • The child is hungry
  • The child is tired

  • Air bubbles in the stomach are a frequent cause of the toddler crying or being restless. It is therefore important that the baby is barked at after breastfeeding or bottle-feeding. It is easier for the baby to get rid of air in the stomach like a belly than it is to get rid of air that has to go through the intestinal system.

  • Overstimulation can also contribute to agitation in the young child. Too many waking hours or too much contact / stimulation can make it difficult for the child to find peace. It is therefore important that you as parents help the child to find peace before it is "too late". Keep an eye on the time and make sure that the small child has the opportunity to shut off from the outside world when he / she has been awake for an hour. It does not have to be sleep, but maybe just sitting in a wrap, on your arm or lying shielded in the pram.
